Hurricanes Leave Insured Property More at Risk

Most property owners, in South Mississippi, are upset with their insurance rates rising in 2021.  Let's not even discuss the monetary payouts from claims that any Category 3 storm or higher can cause insurance companies to withstand but let's rather talk about the looming after effects....even if you didn't have a claim.  Truth of the matter is, before Zeta, Katrina was the last major catastrophic event the coast had seen.  By 2010 rates had stabilized and began to fall.  Over the course of almost a decade, property owners had the luxury of modest and somewhat affordable insurance coverage.  Now that Zeta has "impacted" every structure that was built before October 28, 2020 property rate modeling has taken into account your loosened roofs and other factors that made your property more "stable" before winds in excess of 100 mph hit them.  Time, exposure and projections drive rising insurance rates.  The older your home is, the more exposure it's had to the elements of nature and the weather predictions of Hurricane Season 2021 all factor into your property renewal rates.  Coastal Select Insurance can guide you to the best coverages for whatever age or condition your property is currently in.
